2 Kings 4:18-5:27; Acts 15:1-35; Psalm 141:1-10; Proverbs 17:23 (New Living Translation)

I think the most significant thing about today's reading is the we can see how the early church got bogged down in doctrinal issues. This was about circucision, and what made a "true" Christian. Paul and Barnabas had to convene with the elders, etc.

Ultimately, Pauls says..."God knows people’s hearts, and he confirmed that he accepts Gentiles by giving them the Holy Spirit, just as he did to us. 9 He made no distinction between us and them, for he cleansed their hearts through faith. 10 So why are you now challenging God by burdening the Gentile believers with a yoke that neither we nor our ancestors were able to bear? 11 We believe that we are all saved the same way, by the undeserved grace of the Lord Jesus.”

It is the Holy Spirit which is meant to guide us in these things. We are saved by grace, through faith...

But this hasn't changed much, has it? Are we not meant to be followers of the Christ...directing people to Christ and God and the Holy Spirit?
